How are classes conducted?

When practising yoga, we use its five integral elements:

movement of the body (Body)

regulation of breathing (Breath)

circulation of the blood (Blood)

concentration of the mind (Mind)
awareness of the processes occurring
inside and around us (Soul).

Thus the process of yoga can be described as 3B+MS.

Classes involving the 3B+MS take the following forms, depending on your individual needs, goals and experience:

Mapping
Your yoga program is built taking into account the characteristics of your body, any medical issuesand contraindications that you may have, as well as your psychological state. In the early stages, Imap muscle balance, tension and mobility, helping to identify possible imbalances and mobility problems.
I provide comprehensive feedback on your musculoskeletal system and identify exactly whatexercises are needed to strengthen and stretch your muscles and improve your mental well-being.
Preparation
Light warm-up and stretching help to prepare the muscles and joints for more intense asana practice.
They also help to prevent possible injuries. Before moving on to asanas, it is important to focus on your breathing and body. This helps to create a connection between the body and mind and also ensures deeper performance of asanas.
Free-style yoga poses & movements
Each part of the body needs special care, through the free-style yoga poses and movements designed specially for them. Even the smallest and most delicate parts of your body - teeth, jaws, cheekbones, tongue – need attention in order to cleanse and strengthen the body.
These exercises help relieve stress, reduce muscle tension and anxiety, improve health and prolong the life of the yoga practitioner.

Asana practice
Postures known as asanas play a key role in storing energy and delivering the benefits of yoga practice. To achieve the best results, I follow the rules and methods established by long tradition for each asana.
During exercises it is important to pay attention to both posture and breath regulation, as well as to your capacity for contemplation. Critical to all asanas are body movement, breathing practices, blood circulation, mental control and mental balance.
Breathing techniques
The practice of pranayama will not only increase your physical and mental strength, but also promote harmony in your inner world. The regulation of breath maintains vitality and improves organ function, especially the functioning of the heart and brain.
Pranayama also helps purify the blood, prevents diseases related to the lungs and heart and creates a balance between the various elements of our body, which allows us to feel more energetic and enjoy life more fully.
Deep relaxation & meditation
Deep relaxation and meditation play an important role in improving physical and mental well-being.
They release us from the tension and stress that accumulate in everyday life and help us toachieve a state of inner harmony and equanimity.
Deep relaxation helps improve sleep quality, reduces anxiety and strengthens the immune system.
Meditation helps to improve concentration, clarity of thought and awareness, all of which would benefit us enormously in our daily life.

About me

My name is Serge Palden and I am a specialist in yoga, bodywork, psychology and mindfulness techniques.
I have been practising yoga since 2002 and have been sharing my knowledge and experience through individual and group classes for 10 years. During this time I have undertaken more than 4,000 hours of teaching.
  • I have a tertiary education in Economics and Psychology to postgraduate level, as well as extensive long-term training in yoga and meditation in India, Nepal and Thailand.
  • I am the holder of the International Yoga Teacher Certificate from RYC 200 (accredited by the International Yoga Alliance USA in India): anatomy and biomechanics (nervous and endocrine systems, musculoskeletal system, breathing), cleansing practices, asana adjustments, meditation, breathing techniques, yoga therapy.
  • I studied at the Center for Himalayan Stato-Dynamic Yoga in Nepal, receiving their Diploma of Himalayan Yoga Instructor.
  • I am the holder of the International Certificate of Yoga Massage specialist.
  • I have undergone long-term training in Lam Rim leadership at a Buddhist monastery in Nepal. Lam Rim is a traditional Tibetan practice of spiritual development, including methods of meditation, visualization and the cultivation of wisdom and compassion. These practices help us understand our thoughts and regulate our emotions and behaviour, by developing a deep awareness of our inner world and the surrounding reality. They are used in psychotherapy to achieve emotional balance, reduce anxiety and depression and to enhance personal growth.
  • I am a long-term practitioner of Vipassana meditation in Southeast Asian centres.
I strive for constant growth, both personal and in my professional fields of yoga practice and psychological counselling.
My mission is to help people achieve inner balance and physical and mental well-being through mind and body practices.
